In the early 1970s the City of Cripple Creek issued bonds to rebuild reservoir # 2, which had been wiped out by a flood in 1965. The Timberline Fish and Wildlife Association was created in the early 1970s as a partnership with the City of Cripple Creek and the Colorado Springs Police Protective Association in an effort to pay off these bonds. The bonds were paid off long before their original 20 year period.
In keeping with the original intent to provide a family oriented location for law enforcement personnel to enjoy the outdoors, the Board of Directors of the Timberline Fishing Club, in an effort to set standards for membership within the Club, has proposed and adopted the following guidelines.
These guidelines apply to all regular membership openings and any memberships unfilled by Cripple Creek from year to year.
The Board desires maximum membership prior to the opening of the season on May 1 of each year. Regular and temporary memberships are filled based upon availability and approval and recruitment of the Board.
Cripple Creek memberships are filled by the Cripple Creek City Council. The Secretary/Treasurer will maintain a membership waiting list. Membership applications collected by any board member should be forwarded to the Secretary/Treasurer for consideration. Preference will always be given to applicants that are sworn peace officers of a local law enforcement agency.
All potential memberships will be filled by consideration and approval from the Board of Directors. No single board member has the authority to grant or fill memberships without consent of the others.
Unfilled Cripple Creek memberships are turned over to the Board for approval of temporary yearly memberships. These temporary memberships are then returned back to Cripple Creek at the end of each season.
Open membership slots on the Cripple Creek list will generally be filled from any existing waiting list as considered and approved by the Board.
Regular membership slots will generally be filled from any members having held year to year slots on the Cripple Creek list as considered and approved by the Board.
Temporary members from previous years are given first consideration by the Board for any regular membership openings in the current year.
Regular membership and Cripple Creek membership are mutually exclusive. Meaning, any membership granted by Cripple Creek cannot be considered for regular membership.
